Employees can take this leave if required to attend to something when dealing with the impact of family and domestic violence.
For those eligible, the leave has been added to the National Employment Standards (NES). This means it’s now a minimum leave entitlement, like annual leave or personal/carer’s leave.
As part of this change, the Fair Work Information Statement has now been updated to include these changes.
As a reminder, employers must give every new employee a copy of the Fair Work Information Statement (the FWIS) before or as soon as possible after starting their new job.
